　　Good morning. Teachers and students, a very warm welcome to all of you. Let me introduce myself to you first, I am your SLS Principal Ms. Lynn Wong, it brings me great pleasure to be here today to join the opening ceremony with you for the academic year 2021-2022.

　　親愛(ài)的老師們，學(xué)生們：早上好!熱烈歡迎大家返校開(kāi)啟新學(xué)年的第一天。我是三亞外國(guó)語(yǔ)學(xué)校的校長(zhǎng)-汪琳女士，我感到非常榮幸，今天能夠在這里和大家一起參加2021-2022新學(xué)年的開(kāi)學(xué)典禮!

　　This morning, students greeted me with smiles and waving their hands. With these warm greetings, I feel that this is a warm and friendly school! From today on, there will be many chances we shall bump into each other around campus. Please feel free to share with me whatever you are thinking or feeling about your studies, your school and so on.

　　今天早上，很多學(xué)生向我微笑、揮手致意，從他們溫暖和友好的問(wèn)候中，我感受到這是一所溫暖和美好的學(xué)校，從今天開(kāi)始，將會(huì)有很多機(jī)會(huì)，我們?cè)谛@中碰見(jiàn)彼此，我會(huì)非常樂(lè)意聆聽(tīng)你們對(duì)學(xué)校和對(duì)學(xué)習(xí)的想法和感受。

　　Like my teachers who inspired me when I was young, I hope all my students to become not only knowledgeable but also dedicated, compassionate, wise, imaginative, balanced, and reflective life-long learners.

　　正如我的老師曾經(jīng)鼓勵(lì)我一樣，我也希望我的學(xué)生們成為：知識(shí)淵博、專(zhuān)心致志、懂得關(guān)愛(ài)、富有智慧、擁有創(chuàng)新、全面發(fā)展、懂得反思的終生學(xué)習(xí)者。

　　When you become a young person with a career, what people would notice is not your exam grades but the kind of person you are. I am not telling you that your studies are not important. Rather, I want you to see your academic performance as part of a bigger picture, but not the whole of your whole person development.

　　當(dāng)你們長(zhǎng)大走上工作崗位的時(shí)候，人們注意你的并不是你的考試分?jǐn)?shù)，而是你是什么樣的人。在這里，我并不是想說(shuō)你們的學(xué)習(xí)不重要，而是希望你們將學(xué)術(shù)成績(jī)看作是你們?nèi)税l(fā)展的其中一部分。

　　While you were enjoying your summer holiday, many teachers and staff were busy preparing for the new school year. As you could see, thanks to the incredible effort of our teachers, the school and classrooms have all been renovated and decorated. I hope you would appreciate their hard work in bringing the school into a more beautiful place.

　　同學(xué)們，當(dāng)你們還在享受暑假假期的時(shí)候，我們的老師和全體工作人員已經(jīng)在忙碌于準(zhǔn)備開(kāi)學(xué)的各項(xiàng)工作，你們可以看到，在我們老師的努力付出后，我們的校園和教室都已翻新和精心裝飾。我希望你們能夠感恩和感謝老師們的辛勤付出，讓我們的學(xué)校變得更加美好!

　　Teachers are sometimes referred as ‘gardeners’ as it is their job to help you develop and grow into the best that nature has installed in you. I hope that you could cooperate well with your teachers and let them help you to shine and grow during your years in school.

　　老師通常被稱(chēng)作“園丁”，因?yàn)樗麄兊墓ぷ骶褪菐椭銈兂砷L(zhǎng)為的自己，我希望你們能很好地與老師們合作，讓他們更好地幫助你們成長(zhǎng)和發(fā)出自己的光芒!

　　Finally, I would like to share with you a quote from Madonna, she said, “No matter who you are, no matter what you did, no matter where you’ve come from, you can always become a better version of yourself.”

　　較后，我想跟大家分享一句來(lái)自麥當(dāng)娜的引語(yǔ)“無(wú)論你是誰(shuí)，無(wú)論你做過(guò)什么，無(wú)論你從哪來(lái)，你都可以成為更好的自己.”

　　It takes hard work and dedication to become the best versions of ourselves, let’s do the best of ourselves.

　　It gives me great pleasure to welcome everyone back to our school. I’m Principal Nigel from the UK and I hope that you had a very enjoyable and relaxing summer holiday, and that you were able to connect with your family and friends in a meaningful way.

　　非常高興，歡迎大家返校。我是來(lái)自英國(guó)的奈杰爾校長(zhǎng)，愿您和您的家人、朋友們度過(guò)了一個(gè)有意義，輕松愉快的暑假。

　　It is great to see so many smiling and happy faces on the first day of our new semester.Your teachers have been planning and preparing their lessons and classrooms for the new academic year, and they are excited to be working closely with you to ensure your success and well-being.

　　在新學(xué)期的第一天，很開(kāi)心看到這么多張開(kāi)心燦爛的笑臉。老師們已為新學(xué)年布置好了教室，準(zhǔn)備就緒了教學(xué)計(jì)劃，他們很高興能與同學(xué)們同心協(xié)力，讓你們走向成功獲得幸福。

　　So, let us start our new year at school with hopes and dreams that each one of us will do our best to achieve success, and keep working hard, because hard work pays off.

　　學(xué)期伊始，讓我們懷揣夢(mèng)想和希望，望我們每個(gè)人都能全力以赴，再接再厲，獲得成功，努力就會(huì)有所回報(bào)。

　　There is always something magical about success, and patience and perseverance are two secrets to success. To all our primary students, SLS and TIS is such a special place to learn and grow and we have high expectations for each and every student.

　　成功總是有魔幻的一面，但恒心和毅力是成功的兩大秘訣。對(duì)我們?nèi)w小學(xué)生來(lái)講，三亞外國(guó)語(yǔ)學(xué)校和海南三亞外籍人員子女學(xué)校是一個(gè)學(xué)習(xí)和成長(zhǎng)的特定場(chǎng)所，我們對(duì)每個(gè)學(xué)生都有很高的期望。

　　We expect you to be kind and compassionate, to respect your parents, obey your teachers and believe in yourself. So, as you enter your classes today, our goal is to encourage you to foster a lifetime love for learning.

　　希望你們心懷友善、富有同情心，尊重父母，聽(tīng)從老師，相信自己。所以，當(dāng)你們今天進(jìn)入課堂時(shí)，我們的目標(biāo)是鼓勵(lì)、培養(yǎng)你們對(duì)學(xué)習(xí)的終生熱愛(ài)。

　　To those of you who are in Lower Secondary or High School, we are extremely proud of our public examination results and congratulate all of them on their achievements.

　　對(duì)于我們的初、高中學(xué)生，我們?yōu)榻y(tǒng)考取得的成績(jī)感到非常自豪，并祝賀這些同學(xué)們?nèi)〉昧藘?yōu)異成績(jī)。

　　I would like to mention two students in particular, Catherine, who achieved 6 A* and Christina, who achieved 2 A*, and 2 A’s.

　　我想特別提到兩位學(xué)生，王佳怡同學(xué)，取得了6門(mén)功課A*的好成績(jī)以及宋洋同學(xué)，獲得了2 個(gè)A*和2個(gè) A優(yōu)異成績(jī)。

　　I want you to feel positive and energized when you are in school; this way you are more likely to be successful students, aware of your social responsibilities and be able to contribute positively to society.

　　我希望同學(xué)們?cè)趯W(xué)校積極奮進(jìn)、充滿活力;這樣更有可能成為優(yōu)等學(xué)，意識(shí)到自己的社會(huì)責(zé)任，并能為社會(huì)做出積極貢獻(xiàn)。

　　In conclusion, make sure that you take the opportunity of a lifetime within the lifetime of the opportunity – make the most of them as they will undoubtedly shape and mould your future.

　　較后，你必須在機(jī)會(huì)的一生中抓住了一生中的機(jī)會(huì)——充分利用這些機(jī)會(huì)，因?yàn)樗鼈儗⒑翢o(wú)疑問(wèn)地塑造你的未來(lái)。

　　But most importantly, it means that you will have the world at your fingertips – we as teachers will help you reach out and grab it.
